Discussion of teaching points and development of technique and musicianship through Book 1 Suzuki Cello School.
Prerequisites:
  • SAA active membership
  • Every Child Can! course
  • Approved Basic, Intermediate or Comprehensive video audition through the SAA
A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before June 14. If submitted within 8 weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply. Go to www.suzukiassociation.org/teachers/guides/audition for more information on how to audition.

Please note these deadlines:
Until June 8, you may submit your audition to the SAA at a discounted rate. Auditions submitted early have the advantage of an optional retry (with fees) within the stated deadlines if your initial audition was not accepted.

From June 9 to August 2, you may submit your audition at the regular rate. Since it may take two weeks for approval, we suggest you submit your audition no later than July 25.

No auditions or course registration in Unit 1 as a Participant will be accepted after August 2.
Required Course Preparation:
All teacher training participants are asked to prepare and memorize the repertoire to be studied to the point of fluent performance. Additionally, participants should be conversant with the ideas presented in Dr. Suzuki's book Nurtured by Love.

All participants will be performing Suzuki repertoire and other materials in class. Please have your instrument available during the classes. It is recommended that participants take notes during all sessions. Recording the Zoom classes will be at the discretion of the trainer. 100% attendance is required for registering the course. If your instructor has prepared additional materials for the course, they will be made available online or emailed to you.

You will also receive a letter from the SAA outlining the preparation requirements and basic course components. If your instructor has prepared additional materials for the course, they will be posted online for you to print. If you do not have access to a printer, when you register please request that our office print it for you. The cost will be added to your invoice.

Hours: 28 hours of class time. 15 hours of observation.
